Actor Michael Clarke Duncan has died.

Duncan was 54 years old and had suffered a heart attack in July 2012 and never fully recovered.

The actor died on Labor Day, September 3 2012 at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles where he was being treated for a complication from his previous heart problems.

Duncan had started his career as a bodyguard who became an actor at the age of thirty and starring in several hit movies like Green Lantern, Redemption Road, Kung Fu Panda, The Last Mimzy, School for Scoundrels, Planet of the Apes, The Whole Nine Yards, The Green Mile, and countless TV projects.

His girlfriend, Omarosa Manigault, issued a press statement through her agent saying,

“Michael suffered a myocardial infarction on July 13 and never fully recovered. Omarosa is grateful for all of your prayers and asks for privacy at this time. Celebrations of his life, both private and public, will be announced at a later date."

Duncan had a comedic side to his career and was frequently seen playing the funny guy in small cameos on TV sitcoms such as Chuck, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, King of the Hill, Sister, Sister, Living Single, The Jamie Foxx Show, Married with Children, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and Two and a Half Men.
