For those who are watching The X Factor U.S. edition this year you have no doubt seen young 13-year-old Reed Deming's performances.

Deming has made it through the Boot Camp stage of the competition and is now being mentored and judged at the house of Britney Spears.

Last night was the season 2 debut of the U.S. version of Simon Cowells X Factor singing competition show, and one thing has become clear…

The producers and judges are looking for the next young Justin Bieber style breakout star.

And one contestant stood out from the crowd: 13-year-old Reed Deming.

In what looked almost scripted instead of spontaneous, Reed Deming began his X Factor audition by singing Bruno Mars “It Will Rain” but Simon stopped him and criticized his nerves.

Cowell let Deming try again with “Grenade” with a piano track that mysteriously just happened to be ready and queued up.

Reed Deming kind of looks like Bieber, sounds like him, and sings like him… But Deming seems to cringe at the very comparison to the pop singing sensation.

In fact, during the introduction in the following video, X Factor producers played Bieber’s “Boyfriend” as the background audio to reinforce how much they expect from Reed.

For those who have been waiting for X Factor season 2 to debut in the USA – the wait is over.

The first show of the new season kicked off with a revamped panel of judges that included Britney Spears, Demi Lovato, L.A. Reid, and Simon Cowell.

And of course producers would not let you forget that it was the X Factor who found and created the latest boy band sensation with “One Direction”.

As much as the U.S. seems to hate Simon, he actually seems to have gotten the message and has mellowed somewhat.

Yes, there were some expected awkward X Factor moments.

Like when the cross dressing male dressed in a wedding gown tried to sing his heart out, and when a 50 year-old tried to sing his original song about picking up young girls in bars called “Cotton Candy”.
